Field Notes
Field Notes is a festival of field recording and location sound held across a working harbour. Its programme changes late and often, so the campaign had to be assembled and reprinted in days.
Context
Previous years used photography that dated instantly and never matched the final line-up. The festival needed a campaign that could absorb a schedule change on a Tuesday and be on walls by Thursday.
Approach
The poster is a waveform drawn as horizontal rules, with the density of the rules set by the day's programme. Two inks, one paper stock, one grid. Anyone in the team can produce a correct poster in an afternoon.
Outcome
The 2024 campaign ran across posters, tickets and the schedule handout, and was updated four times during the festival week without the studio being involved.
