Vessel
Vessel is a two-person kiln producing short runs of tableware. Each piece already had weight and character; the box it arrived in did not.
Context
Most of Vessel's orders arrive by post, so the unboxing is the first physical encounter with the brand. The previous packaging was generic, expensive to hold in stock, and gave no clue which glaze was inside.
Approach
One box, three sizes, uncoated board. The glaze family is signalled by a single printed band — no plastic, no inserts, no second colour. Care instructions are letterpressed inside the lid where they will actually be read.
Outcome
Stock complexity fell from eleven packaging items to four. The bands are printed in short runs, so a new glaze can ship within a week of leaving the kiln.
