Long Players
Long Players posts one record a month with a printed essay about it. The club had a devoted membership and a website that looked like a spreadsheet.
Context
Every month brings new cover art the studio does not control. The identity had to sit alongside anything — a sleeve from 1974, a self-released cassette — without competing with it.
Approach
No logo in the usual sense. A single condensed typeface, a fixed left margin and a numbering system that runs from issue 001 onward. Colour comes only from the record being featured, sampled and applied to a single rule.
Outcome
The system has carried twenty-two issues without an exception. Members can identify a Long Players page from the margin alone.
